Wildlife pond completed after years of collaboration

After years of dedicated work with the London Borough of Enfield, the Friends of Grovelands Park are delighted to announce the completion of the new wildlife pond near Church Hill gate.

The pond has been a long-standing ambition for the Friends group, who have campaigned tirelessly to bring this project to life. Working closely with the council, volunteers have created a valuable new habitat that will benefit both wildlife and visitors to the park.

Now complete and ready for planting, the pond is already proving popular with the park’s residents. A Muntjac deer was recently spotted drinking from the water, a wonderful early sign of the facility’s success.

The new pond adds another dimension to Grovelands Park’s rich biodiversity. It joins the existing ancient woods, natural meadows, reed beds, lake and stream to create an even more diverse ecosystem for birds, butterflies, bats and mammals.

Over the coming months, volunteers will be planting native species around the pond to enhance the habitat and encourage more wildlife to make their home here.

This achievement represents the dedication and persistence of the Friends of Grovelands Park, working hand in hand with the LBE to preserve and enhance this precious green space for current and future generations.

All lovers of the park are welcome to join the Friends group. We meet quarterly to discuss concerns, monitor park maintenance and plan community events. If you’d like to get involved, please get in touch through our website.
